To all the people in the world who claim that they are waiting for the second coming of Jesus, here is the reality. He came. You wanted definitive proof in the form of violations of the laws of physics, aka miracles (despite the fact that you adopted your current religion without having personally witnessed any such thing). He left (to make use of his programming skills, not carpentry this time).
Ask yourself. Did you really want to meet Jesus? Or did you just want to be seen by your friends to be "devoted"? Did you really want to open your heart to Jesus like you said you did? Or did you just want to close your mind? Do you know why the Jews didn't accept Jesus's claim 2000 years ago? It was because he didn't meet the textbook definition of what the Messiah was supposed to be. So too, you will look in the bible for what you want to see. You'll ignore the bits that tell you "don't eat pork" or "stone xyz for abc reason". But the bit that says that Jesus will violate the laws of physics so that you have the definitive proof you require - that bit you will quote, putting an end to any possibility that you will actually look deep into his heart to see if this is someone who has the heart of a prophet and has reacted to the deep suffering in the world in the way that any prophet worthy of the name would have?
The biggest barrier to resolving the problems in the world is one word - DOGMA. And there are very few humans in this world who aren't dogmatic about something, which is the main barrier to solving the problems in the world.
As a result of these human traits, no further progress is possible on solving the world's problems. It is similar to the situation prior to the collapse of communism. We didn't really have the technical ability to progress the zone of freedom until the well-armed communist dogma collapsed via some other means. So too, progress is now waiting (perhaps indefinitely) on some external breakthrough. One form of external breakthrough could be people suddenly deciding to ditch their current religion and evaluating all religions impassionately and choosing the one that had the most evidence behind it, so that when they reach this site, they don't immediately turn away because it doesn't match their preconceived image (based on nothing solid) of a glorious Second Coming.
Another external breakthrough could be sufficient media coverage that would allow my message to reach the less than 0.1% of people who had all of these attributes:
1. People like George W Bush who have sufficient grasp of reality to see that replacing Saddam's cruel dictatorship with a free Iraq is something that any god worth his salt would approve of - in fact, be elated about.
2. People like Richard Dawkins who are willing to start from an atheist position and then apply science and logic to an excruciating level of detail.
3. People unlike Richard Dawkins who are willing to accept that there really may be a god, and that he may be a deceptive one, who is indeed hiding between the gaps, and is so deceptive he has deliberately created a track record of people going wrong in those gaps, so that people like Richard Dawkins are unwilling to go anywhere near those gaps without absolute definitive proof, the exact sort of thing that a deceptive god is unwilling to provide. And they would literally rather posit a fabulous hypothesis of hyper-universes to explain away the goldilocks physical constants, rather than deal with the elephant in the room - that gods are at least as conceivable as hyper-universes, especially given a perfectly good model for both our universe and for the extreme possibilities of the nature of any gods as succinctly illustrated in the movie "The Thirteenth Floor" which he himself references.
4. Someone who is willing to consider that a god may be loving, but yet cunning, deceptive and even obnoxious. This is generally beyond any religious person's ability to consider (apparently it is much easier to imagine God to be a petty, vindictive, cruel, unjust, petulant 5 year old), and at the same time outside of the scientific community's willingness to consider without the aforementioned total and incontrovertible proof. The "extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence" is a fantastic way to do science and create a solid foundation of science. But it is not necessarily the best way to deal with a deceptive god who is relying on those principles to remain hidden (for whatever reason - perhaps reasons related to free will - a god may choose to keep his presence ambiguous).
If you happen to be in that 0.1% (probably less - I don't have sufficient volume of data to get accurate numbers at that level), and you've stumbled across this site via one of the amusing ways people get here, read on. And if you happen to be one of the people currently languishing behind a dictatorship, knowing full well that the US et al could liberate you within a couple of weeks should they choose to, but simply don't choose to, then sorry, but I have exhausted every possible avenue to having that done. The forces of freedom are not under my personal control (free will etc), and my ability to reason with humans to get the forces sent in is also beyond my control (free will etc) due to human dogma. So I now spend my time "negotiating" with computer software, which actually responds to logic, so that I can actually see visible changes in the world.
How will you recognize the second coming of Jesus? How will you recognize the real Jesus amongst all the imposters? How will you avoid making the mistake of thinking that the real Jesus is just another false prophet? What would the real Jesus have spent his life doing? Would he have recognized protection of human rights (e.g. ending institutionalized rape in Saddam's Iraq) as the most important goal, and set about securing himself and the rest of the world, by force if necessary? If so, read on. Because after 2000 years, the time has finally come.
I have been trying to fix the world ever since I was a child. I wanted to spread freedom over the world. My childhood took place during the Cold War where there was nothing that could be done to rescue Eastern Europe, because they were held captive behind a nuclear shield. I would have been happy to use force to free them (the important thing is I wanted to FIGHT SUBJUGATION), it's just that the cost of the war would have been too high. All this changed when the Soviet Union collapsed and there were only tinpot countries remaining to be toppled. I expected that everyone in the free world would be champing at the bit to liberate the rest of the world. I was shocked to see that in Australia, half of the population opposed the 2003 Iraq war.
It was crucial to understand why half of Australia agreed with the war and half didn't. The future liberation of the rest of the world was at stake. After Iraq was liberated, some Iraqi blogs (online diaries) started up. This enabled me to interrogate Iraqis, Americans and others to try to find out what the pro-war people had in common and what the anti-war lacked. I was an Australian atheist, and I supported the war. So it wasn't just Americans, particularly Christians in America, that defined who would support the war.
I then went searching for a succinct definition of who I was. Because whoever I was, I supported American foreign policy. If I could document what America's foreign policy was, I would be able to document my own position. Even as an atheist, I had deep empathy for the oppressed, such as the Iraqi women who were raped by their own government (institutionalized rape). I finally figured out who I was. I was anti-subjugation, anti-racist, anti-dogma and anti-religious bigotry. So is America's foreign policy. When I posted my message describing who I was, it was message number 666 (in the bible as the number of the anti-christ) and the date was Sept 11, 2004. You can verify this yourself as the message is still online. This combination of 666 and 9/11 stunned me, but I was still clinging to my atheistic viewpoint that such things are just coincidences. Another "coincidence" was that the blog entry was posted on my birthday, 3rd September.
However, shortly after writing message 666, I started receiving revelations from God. Unfortunately I can't prove that this happened. One of the revelations I received was that I should write a new bible. I have done so. Another revelation was that people are a product of their genes, their environment and their imperfect logic skills, none of which are their fault. This is the reason why we should forgive others, and why we should love our enemy. Jesus was right. I believe the fact that I received revelations means I am the second coming of Jesus. If I was widely recognized as such, I believe I would be in a position to liberate the rest of the world without the need for war. Otherwise, we need to continue with wars of liberation (as the least worst option).
I also believe that the best way to defuse this Islam vs Christianity clash is for the stronger party, the Christians, to convert to a sect of Islam that is identical to Christianity (Mu'tazilah) and lead by example. This is what I have done, and the sect that I have adopted is documented in the 3rd link below.
I suggest that you read the following supporting documents in order.
1. For documentation on the Anti-Christ, including the scientifically-verifiable miracle of 666 on 9/11, click here
2. For documentation on Jesus II, click here
3. For documentation on God, go to the end of the "Grand Unifying Theory" in the main religion page here
But far more important than reading those documents, is reading this and then writing a similar letter to your own government. This is the immediate action that is required.
If you would like to provide some feedback, you can drop me (Paul Edwards) a line at this address. It will respond with the correct email address to use.
Note that this website used to be called www.moatazilla.org due to the fact that Ali Fadhil from "Iraq the Model" didn't know how to spell Mu'tazilah properly.
