It is two distinct failure modes, each requiring a separate intervention. Confusing them produces the current approach: empathy-based education, which addresses neither effectively. FAILURE MODE 1: OUT-GROUP RAPE The rapist sees the victim as outside the tribe. The conquest hardware runs on outside-tribe targets. This is the default hardware operating without the tribe expansion override. FAILURE MODE 2: IN-GROUP SUBJUGATION RAPE The rapist consciously or semi-consciously removes the victim's agency. This includes intimate partner rape, acquaintance rape, date rape, and institutional abuse. The victim is inside the tribe, but the subjugation hardware runs anyway. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- THE TWO CORRESPONDING SOLUTIONS SOLUTION 1: TRIBE EXPANSION (Ages 0-6) Prevents out-group rape by removing the outside category entirely. What to do: Say the playground sentence to the child, repeatedly, at the moment the hardware activates: "We don't hurt our family. And everyone in the world is our family." Why it works: The tribe boundary is expanded to species level. The conquest hardware has no valid targets left. Every woman is inside the tribe. Limitation: Does not address in-group subjugation. The child who has "everyone is family" can still rape someone they actually know, if the subjugation hardware runs. Source: mothers.txt, subjug1.txt SOLUTION 2: THE PLEDGE AND COMBAT STANCE (Ages 4-8 and adolescence) Prevents in-group subjugation by redirecting the aggression instinct onto subjugators and making the commitment personal, visceral, and public. What to do (Superman window, ages 4-8): - Call the child a superhero proactively. - When they bully, confront immediately: "You were Superman this morning. Is this what Superman does?" - Have them make a witnessed commitment: "If you ever hurt someone smaller than you, that is not a superhero. That is the bad guy." What to do (adolescent installation): - Name the rape hardware directly: "Some men rape women. Some leaders take away freedom. These are the same hardware. Your job is to be the one who doesn't do that, and who stops others from doing it." - Offer the rallying cry: "I would slit my own throat before I raped a woman. And I want you to slit mine if you ever see me doing such a thing." Why it works: - The aggression instinct is redirected from victims to subjugators. - The public throat offer closes the escape hatch. - The identity "Protector" is load-bearing, not decorative. - The "all is fair" clause explicitly covers war, fear, and group pressure. - The mechanism does not require empathy. It works through identity and honor. Limitation: The commitment must be made before the subjugation loop activates. Once panic sets in - once the hardware is running hot and the prefrontal cortex is offline - moral appeals are ineffective. Restraint cannot be improvised at the moment of decision. It must already be installed. It makes you harder to fix. The adult amygdala bypass (install.txt) is the fallback: - A genuine threat (a knife at the throat) takes the social ego offline. - The pledge is delivered to the raw biological unit. - Brotherhood is offered instead of death. - The person cries. The override installs. This works on adults who have empathy. It works on the 98%. It does not work on the 2% with no empathy pathway. The amygdala bypass requires a capacity for social bonding, reciprocity, and the threat of death registering as meaningful. If you lack the hardware for empathy, the knife does not reach you. It refers to the population with no empathy pathway - the affective core of what the clinical literature calls psychopathy. Hare's PCL-R estimate for psychopathy in the general population is approximately 1%. The DSM's antisocial personality disorder is estimated at 1-3% in the general population (higher in forensic populations). The 2% figure is within the range the clinical literature supports. It is not sourced from a specific study in the corpus. It is an estimate consistent with the canon. The downstream argument depends on whether the true figure is closer to 1% or closer to 5%, not on the specific number 2. A reader who wants a more precise figure should consult the clinical literature directly. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- THE UNFIXABLE Approximately 2% of humans have no empathy pathway. They cannot be reached by empathy-based approaches. They do not feel the victim's pain. They cannot be shamed by "how would you feel?" The honor commitment works on them - but only if it is installed early, before the window closes. The public throat offer, the hunter identity, the redirect from "hunter of women" to "hunter of hunters of women" - these do not require empathy. They require identity. They require honor. They require a binding commitment. The unfixable are the intersection of two conditions: 1. No empathy pathway. 2. Missed the window for the honor-based installation. The absence of empathy alone does not make them unfixable. If the pledge was installed early, the honor commitment would hold them. The honor mechanism does not require empathy. Missing the window alone does not make them unfixable. If they have empathy, the adult amygdala bypass can still reach them. It is the combination - no empathy AND no early installation - that makes them unreachable. The knife cannot reach them because there is nothing to reach. The pledge was never installed. They are the unfixable. The unfixable are a biological reality (no empathy) combined with a failure of the education system (missed the window). The figure is a canon approximation for the psychopathy population, not a study result. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- THE STRUCTURAL BACKUP: ACCOUNTABILITY AND REMOVAL The pledge is the primary prevention mechanism. But it is not sufficient alone. It must be reinforced by structural accountability. ACCOUNTABILITY: The family government (famgov.txt). - The child reports upward. The adult intervenes. - The system enforces boundaries. The feedback loop is complete. - The public throat is held by the community. The community acts. REMOVAL: Justice.txt. - Distinguish the broken (who can be fixed) from the unfixable (who cannot). - The unfixable are removed (quarantine or execution). - The unfixable are the 2% with no empathy pathway who missed the window. They are not interchangeable. - Tribe expansion (0-6) protects against out-group targets. - The pledge (4-8 + adolescence) protects against in-group subjugation, including the 2% with no empathy. - The adult amygdala bypass (install.txt) is the fallback for the 98% who missed the window. - The family government and justice system provide the structural accountability that reinforces all of the above. Without tribe expansion, the out-group target remains. Without the pledge, the in-group subjugation hardware runs. Without the amygdala bypass, the 98% who missed the window remain unreached. Without accountability, the pledge is a private promise, not a public commitment. The current empathy-based approach addresses none of these mechanisms. It is a goal, not a mechanism. It fails under pressure. It does not expand the tribe. It does not bind the 2%. It does not close the escape hatch. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- THE TIMELINE The window for tribe expansion closes at age 6. The Superman window for identity installation is ages 4-8. The adolescent installation for the full pledge is early teens. The adult amygdala bypass is available, but requires a knife. The family government is built before the child is born, or as early as possible. The justice system is the long-term project. If the window is missed, the adult amygdala bypass is the fallback. It works on the 98%. It does not work on the 2%. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- THE STATUS OF THE BIOLOGICAL CLAIMS The biological mechanisms described in this document - the conquest hardware, the subjugation hardware, the honour mechanism, the amygdala bypass - are hypotheses, not established facts. They are marked with falsification conditions in hardware.txt, subjug1.txt, and subjug3.txt. The framework is a candidate explanation. It is supported by the cases it has already explained. The full demonstration is pending.
